And now that you have submitted the \u00abalegaciones<\/strong>\u00bb (statement of objections), how much time does \u00abHacienda\u00bb (Spanish Tax Authority) <\/strong>have to \u00abcontestar las alegaciones\u00bb (reply to your statement of objections)?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you file alegaciones with \u00abHacienda<\/strong>\u00bb, you want the Agencia Tributaria<\/strong> (Spanish Tax Agency) to respond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s natural. Everyone, when we ask a question, wants an answer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You have filed \u00abalegaciones<\/strong>\u00bb, meaning you have asked \u00abHacienda<\/strong>\u00bb: \u00abMr. Inspector, have I done everything correctly? Could you please confirm that I have done everything properly?\u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But do you know what? \u00abHacienda<\/strong>\u00bb takes its time to respond to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You are given 10 or 15 business days<\/strong> to file alegaciones. Business days, so you understand, are Monday to Friday excluding holidays. In practice, that means 2 or 3 weeks, but 2 or 3 weeks is not much time for you to prepare everything and file \u00abalegaciones<\/strong>\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Between gathering documentation, drafting your written statement, and finding a way to submit it, the days fly by\u2014not everyone has a DNI-e key or an FNMT certificate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, \u00abHacienda<\/strong>\u00bb must think that the only thing we have to do is file \u00abalegaciones<\/strong>\u00bb, but all of us, including you, are already extremely busy, and filing \u00abalegaciones<\/strong>\u00bb with \u00abHacienda<\/strong>\u00bb is an extra task for which we had not set aside 2 or 3 weeks this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
